THE PERSON BEHIND DIVERGENT FILES
Hey, I’m Ralph.
I’m glad you’re here.
Single dad. Marine Corps veteran. Filmmaker. History nerd. Usually up too late trying to make sense of something strange.
If you’ve ever gone looking for one answer and ended up with seventeen open tabs, we’ll probably get along.

HOW I GOT HERE
My life looked good on paper.
It just didn’t feel like mine.
I spent 25 years in finance, including years as a CFO. I knew how to build a career, keep climbing, and look like I had it figured out. For a long time, I thought that was enough.
Then came the pandemic, personal struggles, and some hard questions I’d been putting off. I was spending my days building a life I wasn’t sure I wanted anymore.
Eventually, I walked away. That sounds brave in a short bio. Living it felt a lot less tidy. I was taking a chance on something I cared about, without knowing where it would lead.
I traded boardrooms for rabbit holes. Spreadsheets for storytelling. That leap became Divergent Files.
WHY THESE STORIES
I’ve always had trouble leaving
a strange question alone.
UFOs. Ancient civilizations. Government secrets. Strange disappearances. Lost science. Consciousness. Theories that sound completely out there—until one detail makes you stop and look again.
I’m a believer in possibilities. I want to hear the unusual explanation. Then I want to find out where it came from, what supports it, and what might pull it apart.
Sometimes the evidence changes my mind. Sometimes I’m left scratching my head. I’ll tell you either way. I don’t have all the answers, and I’d rather admit that than sell you certainty I haven’t earned.
Follow the trail. Check the receipts.
Stay honest when the answer gets weird.
If you’ve ever heard a story and thought, “Okay, but something’s missing,” you know the feeling that keeps me doing this.
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AT HOME
Just me, a laptop,
and too many open tabs.
There’s no big studio or giant team behind the curtain. There’s research, writing, editing, and plenty of late nights after dad duty. There are things I get wrong, things I go back and check, and ideas that never make it into an episode.
I want this to feel like a conversation with someone you know. Bring your questions. Disagree with me. Point me toward something I missed. We can see a story differently and still be decent to each other.
IF YOU WANT TO HELP
You’re part of this, too.
Patreon helps pay for the research tools, software, production, and time these stories take. It’s also a place to share more of the process: what I’m working on, what got cut, and what I’m still trying to figure out.
Think of it like hanging out after the episode ends. A little less polished. A little more personal. Still curious as hell.
But please don’t support the channel if it puts stress on you or your family. Kids, groceries, rent, bills—I get it. Take care of home first.
Watching, sharing an episode, leaving a thoughtful comment, or telling a friend helps more than you might realize. You don’t have to pay to belong here.
